Bertha C. Stone

Bertha C. Stacy Stone went home to heaven on August 23, 2025. She was born on November 10, 1934, and spent most of her life on Federal Road in Little Hocking, Ohio. She graduated from Belpre High School in 1952, married John E. “Gene” Stone soon after, and followed him in his service in the Navy Air for four years. They were members of Little Hocking United Methodist Church for many years, and later attended Pioneer Presbyterian Church in Belpre and Veto Presbyterian Church in Veto. She most recently attended First United Methodist Church in Parkersburg. She worked briefly at Broida’s department store, but for most of her life was a homemaker and loving mother to her children. She also regularly held a women’s Bible study in her home. She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Stone, daughter Deborah Greer, grandson John Joby Stone, sister Virginia Baldauf, and parents Sarah and Lester Hatch. She is survived by son, John (Lucky) Stone, daughters Denise (Bruce) Stone and Dawn Sundquist, son-in-law Ron Greer, grandchildren Jimmy Sundquist, Sarah (Joe) Stephens, Bo (Tonya) Greer, Aaron (Leah) Greer, and Michael (Pam) Greer, and great grandchildren Lauren (Brodie) Battin, Shelby Greer, and MJ. Greer. Visitation will be Friday August 29 from 6pm-8pm at Leavitt’s Funeral Home in Belpre and Saturday August 30 from lO am-ll am at First United Methodist Church in Parkersburg. Funeral service will be at 11 am on Saturday August 30 at First United Methodist Church in Parkersburg with interment to follow at Rockland Cemetery in Belpre.
