Roy Beckman

Roy Beckman
It is with great sadness that the family of Roy Beckman shares that he journeyed home on July 9, 2025, at the age of 75. He fought hard, winning his battle against cancer and overcame kidney failure with grace.
Roy, formerly of Belleville, was born on Dec. 18, 1949, in Swanton, MD, he was the son of the late Guy & Evelyn (Wilt) Beckman. He was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Lenhart; two brothers, Roger Beckman, Jeff Beckman; granddaughter, Ryleigh Paige Beckman; sisters-in-laws, Dottie Beckman & Mary Beckman.
Roy was a registered nurse for Rehab & Home Health and hospitals. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, 1967 graduate of Southern High School and a 1994 graduate of Allegany College of Maryland registered nursing program.
Roy had a talent for many things. His work spanned driving a fuel truck for J.P. Riley, driving for Halliburton, welding, serving on a missile base in Korea, building infrastructure in the Laborer’s Union, and caring compassionately for many at Garrett Memorial Hospital, Shawnee Hills and Garrett County Home Health.
Roy was a quiet, old-school force with his dry and profound sense of humor, razor wit, and intelligence. He was a great listener, connecting with all kinds of people. He loved his family fiercely, supporting any dream and was immensely proud of his children and grandchildren. Roy showed up for fun or to support. He was patriotic, a classic rocker, bitingly truthful, never felt the need to buy much beyond a new truck fairly often, and a dedicated bargain hunter even if meant driving pretty far for that $5.00 off.
Among the things he enjoyed at various times: hunting, the History channel, John Wayne movies, NASCAR, NFL, his Harleys and his friends. For those he loved and who loved him, the light is dimmer. “Well done good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:21.
Roy is survived by his wife, Linda Barbara (Booth) Beckman; children, Brandy (Dennis) Beckman-Futch, Brandon Beckman, Taylor (Cory Broadwater) Beckman; brothers, Jim Beckman, Denny Beckman, Terry Beckman; grandchildren, McKenzie Futch, Easton Broadwater, Bryar Broadwater; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
