Ronald “Ron” “Tate” Sams
Ronald “Ron” “Tate” Sams, 82, peacefully and painlessly passed away on July 26, 2025.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Ron served his country as a US Staff Sergeant before beginning a long career at Kaiser Aluminum, where he worked nearly every job until his retirement.
Ron was a man’s man and a family man- strong, committed, and respected. He loved tinkering in his garage, hunting, driving the backroads, having beers with the boys, and shooting the bull with just about anybody. He was also a man of routine, who loved keeping up with the family and friends through regular visits and celebrations.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Pat; his daughter, Missy Duffy (Perry); two granddaughters; three great-grandchildren; and his sister, Dottie Longwell. He was preceded in death by nine siblings and his daughter, Shirley Roberts.
Visitation is Tuesday, July 29, from 6-8 p.m. with the funeral on Wednesday, July 30, at 1 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral home in Parkersburg, WV.
Ron’s unmistakable voice, warm chuckle, and loving personality will be missed and remembered by all who knew him.
