Karen Sue Matthews

Karen Sue Nutter Matthews, 81, passed on May 21, 2025 at Arbors in Marietta. She was born November 7, 1943 in Dayton, OH to the late William P. and Helen L. Waldo Nutter. Karen was very active in her community and served as Program Director for the MOV Regional Council. She joined the GFWC Belpre Women’s Club in 2002 serving 3 terms as President and held many offices during her 23-year membership. She also served as district co-president and was Ohio Federations’ first LEAD graduate. She volunteered for the Belpre Tree Commision, Belpre Health Board, Belpre Alumni Association, and was an AmeriCorps volunteer for 4 years working with Catholic charities food pantries; as was a poll worker for many years.

Left to cherish her memory include her children Melissa Marote of CA; Robert Matthews of MI; siblings Bea Corra of Parkersburg, and Larry Nutter (Katharine) of Belpre; six grandchildren, Amelia, Scarlett, Myles, Michael, Aurora, and Alexandra. She is preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Maximus. She was cremated and there will be a memorial on July 6 at Rockland United Methodist Church at 1 p.m.
