Judith “Judy” Barr Dorworth

April 10, 1940-July 24, 2025

Judith “Judy” Barr Dorworth, nee Judith Ellen Barr, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, stepmother, nurse and friend, passed away peacefully at home with loved ones on July 24, 2025, at the age of 85.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, on April 10, 1940, Judy lived a life defined by love, service, quiet strength, and deep affection for Belpre.

Judy is survived by her husband Dr. Thomas Dorworth of Belpre; her three daughters and stepson, Terri Sizemore (Tom), Karyn Carpenter, Stefanie Carpenter, and Chris Dorworth (Rebekah); her grandchildren, Josh Sizemore (Kelsey) son of Terri, Jessica Sizemore, daughter of Terri, Sky Sargent, daughter of Stefanie, and Mady, Christopher, and Grace, children of Chris; and her beloved great-grandchildren Elora and Maverick, children of Josh. She was a devoted mom that was always supportive and involved, and a loving grandma and great grandma. Her family will miss her dearly – the laughter, the loyalty, and the stories only she could tell.

Judy was a member of the Belpre High School Class of 1958. At age 40, Judy graduated from nursing school – an act of resilience and purpose that led her to aid in the birth of numerous babies throughout the Belpre and Parkersburg communities at Camden Clark hospital. She served with compassion and skill, bringing new life into the world and comfort to countless families.

On June 11, 1993, she married Tom. Their marriage was a shining example of deep partnership, laughter, and unwavering devotion.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Madge Barr.

In lieu of flowers, Judy would like donations made to the Humane Society of Parkersburg, West Virginia. And if you really want to honor her wishes, she’d ask you to vote for J.D. Vance for President in 2028.

Visitation is Tuesday, July 29th, from 12-2 p.m. at Leavitt Belpre, with a graveside ceremony immediately following at Rockland Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.LeavittFuneralHome.com.
