Delores “Sis” Dorothy (Overby) Oliver
Delores “Sis” Dorothy (Overby) Oliver, 84, peacefully fell asleep in death at her residence on June 26th, 2025.
She was born January 26, 1941, in Annapolis, MD to Blaine and Mattie Overby.
Sis graduated from PHS in 1959. She retired from Nashua Photo, where she worked in the accounting dept. Delores served faithfully as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for 53 years. She loved horseback riding, dancing and singing to fifties music, flower and vegetable gardening and card making. Sis shared her many talents of painting, crocheting, macrame, sewing, cutting hair, playing the accordion, piano, and organ with all her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband, Billy Oliver, and brother, Alvin Lynn Overby.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters; Janette (Roy) Fox, Valorie (Joe) Lockhart, Veronica (Chris) Hunt; sisters; Orrleigh (Overby) Cowan, Ginny (Overby) Metz, brother; Carl Overby; grandchildren, Joey Fox, Bethany Sams, Jordan Parsons, Kyle Lockhart, Karlie Lockhart, many great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends like, Owen and Edith Newman, Pat Riggs, and Herb Lennox.
The family would like to give a huge thank you to all the family and friends and Housecalls and Amedysis Hospice for the wonderful care that Ms. D received during her time of need.
She loved and knew she was dearly loved by both her family and Jehovah’s worldwide brotherhood
Please join us in celebrating her life at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1814 Gihon Road, Parkersburg, WV 26101. There will be a visitation on July 11th, 2025, from 6-7:30 with a service at 7:30 p.m.
