Amy Badgett

Amy Badgett
With deep sadness, we announce that Amy Elizabeth Badgett – our loving mother, sister, aunt, and friend – passed from this earth on June 5, 2025, surrounded by those she loved.
Amy was born in Parkersburg, W.Va., on Sept. 22, 1967, to Roger and Carol Stoops. She graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1986. Amy was unendingly loyal to those she loved and was always willing to share whatever she had with anyone in need. She lived with an open heart and an open door, welcoming everyone into her home and her life.
Amy proudly embodied the reputation of a “crazy cat lady,” never meeting a cat she wasn’t ready to care for. She made friends easily wherever she went and found joy in rewatching her favorite funny movies – especially Milo and Otis. She loved to sing loudly and off-key to ’90s country music or along with her favorite film, Grease.
Amy was preceded in death by sister Jill Godfrey; mother, Carol Sue Stoops; father, Roger Stoops; and maternal grandmother, Naomi Gilson.
She is survived by daughters, Michelle (Rob) Sparks and Courtney (Zach) Sallee; twin sister, Annette Stoops (Chris Mace); her brother, Bryan (Connie) Stoops; and sister, Ruthie Bookman. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren – Josiah, Kaylee, Asa, Elijah, Gabriella, Isaiah, Lily, and Amaryllis – as well as nieces and nephews: Alicia Mace (Danny), Ashley Godfrey (Ryan), Brandon Godfrey, Megan Satow (Matt) and Ryan Stoops (Brooke). Great-nieces and nephews include Kiva, Kira, Tobias, Braylee, Zoey, Ryddar, Cyllie, Railyn, and Ronan; along with numerous friends she cherished as family.
Amy wasn’t ready to go, and we weren’t ready for her to leave. Our hearts are broken, and we will feel her absence everywhere–but we hold to the truth that she lives on in us. Her selfless, serving spirit changed everyone who knew her. To know her was to be touched by her. Everything she had, and everything she was, she poured out to those around her. She accepted and loved everyone just as they were.
Her death has left a hole in our hearts that cannot be filled, but her love has left a mark that can never be erased. When we love like she did, the force of her life is felt.
We will each miss Amy and the sound of her laughter. To honor the light she was in our lives, let us all open our hearts with an act of kindness, sing at the top of our lungs to Grease, or wear our favorite Pittsburgh Steelers shirt.
