Stephanie “Stevie” Frank

Stephanie “Stevie” Frank

Stevie Frank passed quietly in on June 13, 2025, at Laurel Lake Retirement Center in Hudson, Ohio. She was born October 18, 1941, in Parkersburg, WV, to Belle and Martin Cremer. A graduate of PHS, in the class of 1959, she went on to receive her undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin and her Masters Degree in Education at Marietta college. Along with her beloved husband, Eldon, she became entrenched in the Parkersburg community.

She was a lifelong teacher and educator who touched generations in the Mid-Ohio Valley. She taught English literature at Parkersburg Catholic High School for 39 years as well as serving as a guidance counselor, drama teacher and American History teacher. She also directed the quiz team, and at times helped as an assistant basketball coach. Recent social media posts have repeatedly noted that “She’s the reason I became a teacher.” Additionally, she was involved with the American Field Service and hosted two exchange students from Argentina.

She remained true to her West Virginia roots and was an inveterate Mountaineers fan, as well as following the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Guardians and Cavaliers with true enthusiasm.

After retiring she moved to be near family and resided in the Laurel Lake Community in Hudson, Ohio, where for 12 years she managed the contract bridge club, taught new residents the computer system, and wrote about her life experiences in the Snippets autobiography group. She was able to focus on bridge and achieved Life Master status in 2019.

Stevie is survived by her much loved cat Sid, her daughters Karen and Susan Frank, and her cousin Steven Cremer who was like a brother to her.

Visitation will be Friday June 20, at 9:30 am at Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg followed by a service at 11 a.m. Interment will follow with a brief prayer service at Mt. Olivet cemetery. Friends are invited to reminisce over a light lunch at Leavitt Family Center, 620 Avery Street, after cemetery service until 4 p.m.
