Lester L. Newberry, 86, of Parkersburg, passed away June 15, 2025, at his residence.
He was born September 6, 1938, in Parkersburg, the son of the late Kenneth L. Newberry and Edith May Butcher Winters.
He had retired from E. I. Dupont after many years of service and had also worked painting houses for many years.
Lester had a deep love of music and was a talented bluegrass country fiddle player and had played for square dances, nursing homes, Civil War balls and The Stables. He was an avid Antique collector and enjoyed traveling and in the early 2000s he and his wife fulfilled their dream of going to Alaska. He loved to hunt and fish, jigsaw puzzles and playing Yahtzee and loved beating his sister in law Suzie.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Newberry; His children, Brian Newberry (Theresa), Cindy Hart (Jeff), Greg Newberry (Leah), Julie Rajan (Dr. Rajan) and Eric Strother (Tammy), 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Jennie Walker; One grandson, Kenny Walker; One sister, Opal Jean Ray and one brother, Kenneth Lee Newberry.
A private service will be held at a later date and burial will be in the Evergreen South Cemetery.
