In Loving Memory of Joe Duty
Joe Duty, beloved son, brother, and uncle, passed away on June 18th, 2025, at his residence in North Canton, Ohio, at the age of 44. His gentle spirit, kind heart, and not-so-quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Born on July 23rd, 1980, in Parkersburg, WV, Joe was the cherished son of Bill Duty and Kathy Morris, who instilled in him a deep love for family and a quiet resilience that guided him throughout his life. As a brother, he was a source of steady support, laughter, and lifelong friendship. His siblings, Greg and Ryan Duty, will forever carry his memory in their hearts, remembering the shared stories, the late-night talks, and the unwavering bond they shared.
Joe lived with his foot on the gas and his heart wide open. He was the kind of person who could turn a quiet afternoon into an unforgettable adventure, the spark in every story. His laugh carried across any room; he brought joy, chaos, and love in equal measure. He was a guitar enthusiast, avid gun collector, and a passionate Green Bay Packers and Ohio State football fan. Joe was also an Army veteran and the Plant Manager for AT&F in Cleveland, Ohio. His life was not defined by accolades, but by the countless small moments in which he made others feel seen, heard, and loved.
Though his time with us was far too short, his impact will be felt for generations. We will remember him in the sound of laughter around the dinner table, in the comfort of a familiar song, and in the still moments that remind us to hold our loved ones close.
Joe is survived by his father, Bill Duty; his mother, Kathy Morris, and her husband, Randy Morris; and his two brothers, Greg Duty and his wife, Michelle, and Ryan Duty and his wife, Emma. His five nieces and nephews, Kaitlynn Miller, Dakota Duty, Braydon Duty, Noah Duty, & Henry Duty. Also surviving are step-brother, Ross Morris and his wife, Kayla, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a step-sister, Sara Stier.
His life was a gift to us all, and his love will live on in each of us.
Friends and loved ones are invited to attend a viewing on Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home in Belpre. A Celebration of Life will be held at 7:30 p.m.
