Sheldon L. Thomas

Sheldon L. Thomas, 85, of Washington, WV, died Monday, May 12, 2025, at his residence. He was born in Check, VA along with his brother Kenneth Thomas and sister Dorothy Gravley to the late Vance G. and Ila L. (Mason) Thomas.

He worked hard and was a truck driver his entire life driving first for Borg Warner and then Safety Kleen Corp. He was a United States Marine veteran having served from 1959 to 1963. He enjoyed tinkering with antique cars; especially his 1951 Ford. He loved racing, watching football, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by three daughters Anita DeVore, of Parkersburg, Shelly Douglas (David, Jr.) of Washington, WV, and Teresa Harris (Mark) of Washington; nine grandchildren Brendon (Shannon), David III, Jake (Cheyanne), Chantel (Aaron), Kyla (Josiah), Logan, Ryan (Danielle), Maddie (Conner), and Sydney; and eight great grandchildren Carsen, Raiden, Demi, Julie, Roman, Aurora, Arya, and Axton.

He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth (Shafer) Thomas.

Graveside services will be Friday 1:00 PM at Wallace Memorial Cemetery with military honors and visitation one hour prior. Visitation will be Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg.
