With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Thomas Eugene Higgs on April 12, 2025, at the age of 67.
Known affectionately as Tom, he was born March 2, 1958, in Parkersburg. He was the beloved son of Judith Higgs and the late Harry Higgs, as well as the late Maryellen Higgs.
Tom enjoyed simple pleasures, loved the birds visiting his bird feeders, enjoyed cooking for others, nature photography, and was a devoted blood donor. He was a member of Saint Margaret Mary Catholic Church.
Tom raised his three daughters Melissa Asaro, Crystal Higgs, and Kayla Higgs. He took great pride in his grandchildren - Ethan, Isabella, Hunter, Liam, David, and Cordelia – and his great-grandson, Kolt.
He is also survived by a large and loving family: His mother, Judith Higgs, his siblings Michael and Pam Higgs, Carol Morgan, Paul and Gail Higgs, Mary and David Pabst, Matthew and Linda Higgs, Stephen and Darbie Higgs, James and Marta Higgs, Rev. Donald Higgs, Ann and Michael Pifer, and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by five brothers: Peter, John, Gregory, David, and Danny Higgs, whose memories he always held close to his heart.
Tom will be remembered for his spirit and how he carried through life's challenges. His legacy of resilience lives on in those who knew and loved him.
A Memorial Mass at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church will be held later in the summer and inurnment at Mt. Carmel Cemetery will take place then.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom's memory to Stone Soup Kitchen of St. Francis Xavier Church, 532 Market Street Parkersburg, WV 26101.
