Ruth “Janie” Snyder

Ruth “Janie” Snyder, age 74, of Harrisville, WV, departed this life on Friday, April 25, 2025, in New Milton, WV, at the home of her nephew.

Janie was born on July 28, 1950, in Brooklyn, New York the daughter of the late Elton Arnold and Hortense Clare Guinan Snyder.

Janie was a school teacher for Webster County Schools for 36 years where she taught Art, Drama and History. She had received several awards for her school plays. She enjoyed her crafts, painting, quilting and card making. She had shared her carding making skills by teaching at the Harrisville Senior Citizens. Janie loved spending time with her great nephews, great-great nephews and great-great niece.

Janie is survived by one sister, Hortense “Trish” Sutton (Eugene Foster), New Milton, WV; one nephew, Gary “Mike” Sutton Jr. (Katrina), New Milton, WV; three great nephews, Jacob Sutton (Erin), Jared Sutton (Adena) and Johathan Sutton (Carissa) all of Clarksburg, WV; two great-great nephews, Mordecai Sutton and Theodore Sutton; one great-great niece, Audrey Sutton; and two very good friends P.J. Dumire and Sally Roeuf.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Clare Inez Snyder and two infant brothers, Christopher and Joseph Snyder.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville, WV. Burial will follow in the Moyers Cemetery, Harrisville, WV.
