Reverend Jim Eakle

Reverend Jim Eakle, 88 of Davisville, WV, passed away April 19, 2025, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 15, 1936, at Lawford, WV, in Ritchie county the son of the late Charles Edward and Lola Frances Jones Eakle.

He had worked for Quaker State Oil for 20 years before going into the ministry and serving the United Methodist Church at Gihon for 15 years and previously churches at Mt Carmel, Walker, Vaught Chapel, Stillwell, Mt. Olive at Burnt House and Pisgah at Pullman for the next 30 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and West Virginia Mountain Fan.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Sue Bungard Eakle; His sons, James Keith Eakle (Cindy) and Kevin Shane Eakle (Susan); His grandchildren. James Richard Eakle, Deena Marie Hatcher, Dustin Ryan Eakle, Candace Renee Dornetto and Corey Shane Eakle. Seven great grandchildren; His siblings, Etta Lou Eakle Hardman, Terry Lee Eakle, Bradford Gene Eakle, Billy Conn Eakle and Patsy Jean Eakle Newlon and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Edna Eileen Wright Eakle, and his siblings, Edward Ray Eakle, Janice Ann Eakle Freshour, Charles Michael Eakle, Teddy Foye Eakle, Buddy Lewis Eakle, Jencie Eakle Jones, Tencie Pearl Eakle Reed and Daniel Anderson Eakle.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg with Reverend Jim Yoak and Reverend Sue Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Hazelgreen Cemetery in Ritchie County. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 p.m.
