Patricia Chapman

Patricia “Patty” Ann Chapman, 84, of Parkersburg, WV passed away peacefully on March 25 after a brief illness with her family at her bedside. She was a woman of great strength and conviction and will be missed greatly by her family and friends.

Patty was born April 24, 1940, to Berl and Ruth Marks of Lubeck, WV. She was a graduate of Parkersburg High School and married her high school sweetheart and husband of 68 years, Jon H. Chapman. Patty previously lived in West Palm Beach, FL and Dover, DE before returning to Parkersburg, WV in 1972. She and Jon established JOPA Farm shortly thereafter.

On the farm, they raised Murray Grey cattle and later Boer goats. She also raised and loved many pet dogs and horses on her beloved farm.

Patty was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, Tina Michelle Chapman, brother Jim Marks, sister Betty Webb, and granddaughter Tabatha Nicole Chapman Dean.

She is survived by her husband Jon Chapman, Sr, sister Linda (Danny) Murray of Mineral Wells, brother Tom (Connie) Marks of Belleville, daughter Joy (Jim) Ferguson of Dover, DE, and son Jon (Kelly) Chapman of Davisville, WV. Grandchildren: Jennifer Divita, Benjamin Dulin, Adam (Melissa) Dulin, Matthew (Jennifer) Ferguson–all of Dover, DE. Eric (Holly) Chapman of Parkersburg. Great grandchildren: Payton, Landon, and Carter Dulin, Beckett and Deklyn Divita, River and Charlee Ferguson–all of Dover, DE., Hunter and Desseria Chapman, Alex Joseph and Jayden Dean, and Alli and Hayden Simms. And–her faithful companion Brody, a beautiful black cocker spaniel.

A private Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held later.
