John Herbert May

John Herbert May, 89, of Little Hocking, passed away April 7, 2025, at Belpre Landing Assisted Living.

He was born Feb. 26, 1936, in Parkersburg, WV, a son of the late Herbert Lee and Carolyn Nancy Taylor May.

John was a retired sheet metal worker from Steers Heating and Cooling Local #33 and had recently received his 70 year awards. He was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on his lawn and taking care of his family.

He is survived by his loving wife, with whom he just celebrated 71 years of marriage, Mary Eleanor (Bostaph) May; children John Daniel May (Sheila) of Belpre, Ohio, Brenda Susan Duff (Roger) of Belpre, Ohio, Robert Michael May of Little Hocking, Ohio and Nancy Marie Darrah of Mason, Ohio; grandchildren Heather, Sara, Kristen, Katie, Rachel, Amanda, Zachary and Jennifer; great grandchildren Guy, Gwenn, Madison, Jordan, Alivia and Casey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Gale and Samuel May and his son-in-law Jeff Darrah.

A memorial service will be at a later date.
