Jesse K. Rickard, a resident of Charter Senior Living in Hermitage, TN, and prior resident of Parkersburg and Oceana, WV, passed away peacefully at the age of 87-years old, on April 21, 2025. He was born on Jan. 16, 1938, at Shinnston, West Virginia, Harrison County, a son of the late Lon F. and Ruby Pearl (Cosner) Rickard.
He was united in marriage on May 28, 1960, to Patsy Lou Campbell, who preceded
Jesse's passing on Nov. 1, 2023.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Phil and Connie Rickard, and two grandsons, Brock and Nick Rickard, of Mount Juliet, Tennessee. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
Jesse was also preceded in death by one daughter, Cynthia Kay, two brothers, Charles and Alonzo Rickard, and one sister, Ruby Blessing.
Jesse was a retired plant operator for several coal mining companies including A.T. Massey, Corporation and Pocahontas Fuel Company. He was a member of the United Mine Workers Association. He was a loyal and strong husband, father, and grandfather.
Jesse will be remembered for his friendliness and compassion for others in need. He loved to hunt, watch sports, support and laugh with neighbors, and enjoy sight-seeing.
When he was battling health challenges before he departed from this world, Jesse did not complain and expressed love and appreciation with dignity to his family and healthcare providers.
The funeral service will be conducted at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg, WV, on Wednesday, April 30th, at 2 p.m. Visitation will be held from 12 p.m.-2 p.m. Entombment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
