Jerry Keith Bower

Jerry Keith Bower, 78, of Parkersburg, WV, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, after a short illness. He was born on Dec. 20, 1946.

Jerry was a devoted husband to his wife of many years, Lisa Bower. He was a loving and proud father to his children: Vince Bower (Mindi) of Williamstown, Jerry Patrick "Pat" Bower of Parkersburg, Jana Howell (Chad Foster) of Parkersburg, and Leah Wagoner (Martin) of Parkersburg and all of whom survive him. He was preceded in death by his children Wanda Rogers and Patrick Keith Bower..

He was a cherished grandfather to Nick, Cassie (Jordan), Lexie (Derek), Chad, Brantley, Audrey, Kadence, Kinli, Ashley, Riley, Everleigh, and Ellisyn, and a beloved great-grandfather to Percy.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, James Hampton "Sidder" and Audrey Merle Kendall Bower, and his siblings, Delores "Germalea" Fortney, Doris "Normalea" Cain (Kenneth Dewayne), and James Roger Bower. He is survived by his loving sister, Kathy Hopkins (Jerry) of Elizabeth, WV.

A dedicated member of the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) #132 since May 1974, Jerry was a hardworking and respected colleague. He was a longtime attendee of North Parkersburg Baptist Church and, after an injury made in-person attendance difficult, continued to participate by watching the services online. His faith remained an important part of his life.

Outside of work and church, Jerry had a passion for classic automobiles and enjoyed participating in car shows with the Pioneer Antique Auto Club. He was also an enthusiast of motorcycles and tractors, finding joy in their mechanics and history.

Jerry will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. His kind spirit, dedication, and love for his family will be fondly remembered.

Funeral services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg with Pastor Mike Towner officiating. Burial will be in the K of P Cemetery at Elizabeth, WV. Visitation will be Monday from noon until service time at 2 p.m.
