James Edward Huffman
James Edward Huffman, 88, of Parkersburg, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2025 at Worthington Nursing Home. He was born in Parkersburg, WV, a son of the late Alfred and Florence (Duvall) Huffman.
He was a skilled project and civil engineer, with professional experience at Remington Rand, American Cyanamid, and retired from Borg Warner Chemicals/G.E. Plastics after 30 years. In addition, he was a licensed surveyor for over forty years. A proud United States Navy veteran, he served during the Korean War and was an electronics instructor for the U.S. Navy Reserve. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where he held several roles, including Deacon, Pastoral Visitation Team, Children’s Sunday School Teacher, and BYF Leader. His community involvement extended to serving as a board member for the Wood County Surveyors Association, Wood County ARC, The Little Kanawha Regional Council, and a leader with the BSA Cub Scouts, and National Chrysanthemum Society. He was a regionally recognized artist for his pen and ink West Virginia wildflower drawings.
He will always be remembered for his captivating quotes and stories.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-four years Shirley (Cutshaw) Huffman; son James V. Huffman (Julia A.) of Fort Wayne, IN; daughter Julie A. Huffman of Winder, GA; grandchildren Cole (Sierra), Grant, and Willow Huffman of Fort Wayne; four brothers John (Kathy), Paul (Melanie), Joe, and Tom (Brenda) Huffman all of Parkersburg; and a sister Mary Heckman (Dave) of Baton Rouge, LA.
Services will be Friday 11:00 AM at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Pastor Daniel Golden officiating. Graveside services will be Friday 1:00 PM at East Lawn Memorial Park with military honors. The family will receive friends Thursday 6-8 PM and Friday one hour prior to the service.
The family would like to thank Meals on Wheels, and BrightStar for the love and care as well as the pacemaker donation program at Iowa State University, Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center.
Memorial donations may be made in Ed’s memory to Wood County Senior Citizens Association – Meals on Wheels or The ARC of the Mid Ohio Valley.
