Darrell Glen (Bub) Smith

Darrell Glen (Bub) Smith, 85, of Parkersburg, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2025, at WVU Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was born Oct. 5, 1939, in Liverpool WV, a son of the late Ronald R. and Ruth A. Smith.

He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, and traveling. He graduated from Gilmore High School and served in the U.S. Army. He retired from E. I. DuPont in 1997 after 35 years.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Ann Smith, his children Theresa Smith of Odenton MD, Craig (Barb) Smith of Washington, Shelly Eakins of Parkersburg, and Brenda (Scott) Vandyke of Belpre, 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 4 sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Helen Hill, and his beloved dog Bentley.

The family would like to thank the staff at WVU Medical Center for their excellent care.

Per his wishes he will be cremated. There will be a celebration of life for family and friends on Saturday. April 12, from 3-5 p.m. at Edgelawn UMC Parkersburg.
