Rose Marie Snodgrass

Rose Marie Snodgrass, 90, of Parkersburg, WV, passed away peacefully March 15, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born in Parkersburg on Nov. 3, 1934, the daughter of the late Lee Monroe Horner and Gertrude Webb Horner.

She graduated from Parkersburg High School and Mountain State Business College. Rose Marie married the love of her life Richard Michael Snodgrass in 1956 and enjoyed 60 years of marriage before his death in 2015.

After a career in banking at Commercial Bank, she later obtained her Real Estate license and was a successful Realtor for many years and served as President of the Board of Realtors.

Rose Marie was passionate about West Virginia and her hometown, and became active in service to her community. She was elected to Parkersburg City Council for two terms and served as President for one of them. She was a founding member and President of Artsbridge, a member of Main Street USA, a member of the Friends of Blennerhassett and of the Wood County Bicentennial Commission.

Left to cherish her memory are three daughters, Kathryn Ross (Paul), Linda Florence (John), and Carol Fryfogle all of Parkersburg, her granddaughter MacKenzie Brown (Brent) and her great-grandson Daxter Brown of Lenoir City, Tennessee.

She was a huge sports fan, especially WVU and Vanderbilt football and basketball. An avid traveler with her family, she spent many vacations visiting Dallas, New York, Canada, The Outer Banks, Nashville, Florida, Chicago, Niagara Falls, Atlanta, Washington, D.C. Las Vegas, Utah, Atlanta, Baltimore and Montana, and closer to home at The Greenbrier, Timberline and Snowshoe.

She was a member of and raised her family at First Baptist Church. She and her husband later joined North Parkersburg Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess.

Special acknowledgement is given to her dear friends Dr. Dorai Rajan and the late Ranee Rajan, and Mrs. Karen Reed. The family wishes to thank Dr. Jennifer Leavitt for her kind and compassionate care.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 23, at the Leavitt Funeral Home Parkersburg. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from Noon until 2 p.m. just prior to the service. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.LeavittFuneralHome.com.
