Souad “Sue” Thomas
Souad “Sue” Thomas, 88, of Parkersburg, passed away January 27, 2025, at her residence. She was born on June 5, 1936, in Saidnaya, Syria. Souad was the daughter of the late Fares and Afifa (Hannoun) Naddaf.
She was the parts manager at Louis Thomas Subaru, a business built by the Thomas family. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Her greatest joys were raising her family, sewing, cooking, and baking. She was known for her delicious Arabic food. Most of all, she was the greatest sitti to not only her grandchildren, but to all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Leila Marlow (Randy) of Parkersburg, Lou Thomas (Kathy) of Vienna, and Tammy Rhodes (Tim) of Mooresville, NC; grandchildren Melissa Smolinka, Morgan Bunner, Lou Thomas Jr., Pamela Watson, Andy Thomas, Griffin Rhodes, and Casey Rhodes; 8 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Fayez Naddaf of Syria.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward John Thomas; brother, George Naddaf; and two sisters, Aziza Naddaf and Roma Vassallo.
A funeral mass will be held Saturday, February 1st at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church at 10 am. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Sue chose to donate her body to West Virginia Human Gift Registry. Her remains will be buried beside her husband at Mt. Carmel Cemetery at a later date. Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 532 Market Street, Parkersburg, WV 26101.
