Ronald H. Drillien, known affectionately to family and friends as Ron, passed away peacefully of natural causes in Frankfort, Kentucky, on the evening of Dec. 5, 2024.
Born on July 11, 1935, in Barberton, Ohio, to the late Herbert and Ester (Jones) Drillien, Ron's life was characterized by deep faith, kindness, and a generous spirit that touched everyone he met. Ron's journey through life was marked by a profound dedication to his ministry. He served as a minister for over 50 years, providing spiritual guidance to congregations in Rapid City, SD; Parkersburg, WV; Pt. Pleasant, WV. He also provided leadership as a District Superintendent for the WV District of the Wesleyan Church. His unwavering commitment to his calling was evident in the way he lived his life, always prioritizing the needs of others and leading by example.
Outside of his ministry, Ron found solace and joy in the simple pleasure of gardening. He nurtured his plants with the same care and attention that he devoted to his family and congregation.
Ron leaves behind his beloved wife, Sandra Drillien, who stood by his side in loving support throughout their marriage. His legacy continues through his younger sister, Merrily (Dwight) Neff; his devoted sons, Timothy (Linda) Drillien and Douglas (Kim) Drillien; and his loving daughter, Lenore Humble. Ron was a proud grandfather to three grandchildren, Heather (Jim) Ferguson, Levi (Kaley) Humble, and Emily Humble, who will carry forward the values and lessons he instilled in them. His joy was further multiplied by six great-grandchildren.
Those who knew Ron will remember him as a faith-filled man who walked through life with a kind heart and a generous nature. He approached every interaction with compassion and empathy, and his presence was a source of comfort and reassurance to many. Ron's influence extended beyond the walls of the church, as he was a pillar in his community, known for his gentle and friendly demeanor.
As we say goodbye to Ronald H. Drillien, we celebrate a life lived in loving service to others. He has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him, and his memory will be cherished forever. Ron's journey on this earth may have come to a close, but the seeds of love and faith he planted in the lives of his family, friends, and community will continue to flourish for generations to come. Ron's family takes comfort in knowing that he lived a full and meaningful life, guided by the principles he held dear. As we honor his memory, we reflect on the beauty of a life well-lived, and we find peace in the knowledge that he has finished the race well and has been called to his eternal home.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday 11 a.m. at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Reverend Steven Willingham officiating. Burial will be at Cairo Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday 6-8 p.m.
