Helen Wright
Helen Connie (Carder) Wright, 88, of Mineral Wells, WV, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Dec. 23, 2024, on the wing of a prayer, surrounded by loved ones in her home.
Helen was born November 25, 1936 in Vienna, WV, a daughter of the late Paul Andrew Carder and Edith Pauline (McVey) Carder.
Helen was a life-long member of Mt Pleasant United Methodist Church in Mineral Wells, West Virginia. She retired from E.I. Dupont Washington Works with 30 years of service.
Helen enjoyed serving her church, family and friends with home-cooked meals and delicious baked pies, cakes and cookies. She spent much of her free time in the summer canning and freezing fruits and vegetables from her husband, Harry’s garden. The love and detail they spent growing their garden was also reflected in the way she nurtured her children. In her younger years, she was an active member of the service-driven Alpha Rho Sorority, and many members remained dear friends for 50 years.
Helen is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Harry Wright Jr, of Mineral Wells, WV, three children, Beth Sauvageot (Bob) of Tornado, WV, Tim Wright (Lisle) of Mims, FL and Susan Merritt (Mark) of Kenova, WV. She has twelve grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Alisha Caudill, Andy Caudill (Abi), Chris Sauvageot, Donnie Sauvageot, Larissa Sauvageot, Joshua Wright (Rhubie), Amy Muck (Wayne), Kimberly Thorstenson (Ben), Jodi Mosley (Jake), Kevin Wright (Rachel), Allie Madabhushi (Vashisht) and Katie Merritt. Helen had 25 great grandchildren that always brought a huge smile to her face when they visited. Helen is survived by one brother, Lyle Carder (Mary Jane) of Mineral Wells, WV, one very dear sister, Dinah Winans of Belpre, OH, one sister-in-law, Pat Carder of Vienna, WV and 12 nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her two brothers, Bill and Rex Carder, one sister, Jenny Roberts, and one sister-in-law, Donna Carder.
Services will be held Monday, Dec. 30th, 1 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Mineral Wells with Reverend Chris Duckworth and Helen’s grandson, Andy Caudill, officiating. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to service at the church.
The family would like to give a special recognition to Helen’s wonderful caregivers over the past few months (Ashley, Becky, Kim, Lisa, Mechelle and Mary).
Memorial donations may be made to Amedisys Hospice at 2200 Grand Central Ave Suite 101, Vienna, WV 26105 or Mt. Pleasant UMC, 62 Turkey Foot Road, Mineral Wells, WV 26150.
