Ginger Sue Poling
Daughter, wife, mother, teacher, Ginger Sue Poling left this earth on November 21, 2024, at the young age of 56. She was surrounded by her beloved husband, daughter and wonderful hospice nurses that kept her cared for and comfortable in her final days. The family wants to express their gratitude to Journey Hospice for her end-of-life care, and Dr. Heather Straight and Dr. Abdi S. Ghodsi for the extensive care they provided Ginger for many years of her life. And her devoted caregivers
Ginger was born to Linda Poynter and Robert Stemple on August 18, 1968, at Westlake Hospital in Cleveland Ohio. She attended Pleasants County Schools until her senior year, she completed her high school education at Belpre High School, Class of 1986. She furthered her education at Ohio Valley College and West Virginia University at Parkersburg where she received her degree in education. Ginger was well known in the Pleasants County School system for her time teaching and tutoring students. She was a member of the St. Marys United Methodist Church.
Though Ginger battled with her illness for most of her life it never stopped her from living life to the fullest. She loved socializing with friends, trips to the Pleasants County Library and Neighborhood Network. She cherished her time with her grandchildren baking in the kitchen, watching movies, making bracelets and creating art of any kind. Her family and friends were her world and to know her was to love her.
Ginger is survived by her loving husband Doug Poling of 30 years. They were married on January 4, 1994. He was her husband but also, best friend, constant and caregiver. She is survived by her daughter Rachel (David) Jeffers and grandchildren Makinsey, Laney and Jaxson. Her loving mother and father Linda and Steve Poynter, sister Wendy (Shea) Flaherty, brother Matthew (Crystal) Stemple, sister Jennifer (Chris) Piggott, and brother Corey Poynter. Mother and father-in-law Mike and Sharon McGee. Ginger also leaves many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ginger was preceded in death by her father Robert Stemple, sister Joy Jenkins, brother Jason Poynter, nephew Stephen Jenkins and her maternal grandparents Maxine and Joe Tuttle, her paternal grandparents Leo and Rose Stemple.
The funeral service will be Sunday, November 24, 2024, at 3:00 P.M. at Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, WV. With Rev. Clare J. Sulgit and Rev. Jim Kelly officiating. Friends may call from 12:00 to 3:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests for donations to be made to the Pleasants County Library and Neighborhood Network.
