Georgia Lee (Loughrie) Parsons

Georgia Lee (Loughrie) Parsons was born at her home in Aurora, WV, to Gay and Elizabeth Loughrie on Aug. 23, 1944. She passed away in the arms of Jesus on Oct. 26, 2024, with her loving family surrounding her. Georgia graduated from Aurora High School, close behind her High School Sweetheart in 1962. She and Lowell were married on June 4, 1963. He was serving in the USAF at Langley AFB where they resided. Lowell was transferred to Japan and stationed at 2 bases there including Yokota, where she was able to join him there in August 1964.

The Lord blessed them with 3 wonderful children, Kimberly (Mike) Cunningham of Lumberport WV, Kenneth (Jeanne) Parsons of Morgantown, WV and Michael (Melissa) Parsons of Waverly, WV. The family extended to 10 grandchildren, Kale (Zak) Bart, Tyler (Presley) Cunningham, Madison Cunningham, Lindsey (Ryan) Hogan, Olivia Parsons, Aspen (Cole) Smith, Wesley (Kiersten) Parsons, Hayden Parsons, Hannah Hudson, and Caleb Hudson; 7 Great grandchildren Macy Bart, Elaine & Claire Cunningham, Knox Cunningham, Adelaide & Violet Smith, Hyland & future baby Parsons. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters Susan Welch and Angela Bishop.

Throughout their 61 years of married life, in all the moves they made, Lowell and Georgia were involved in the local church. They were baptized by Lawerence Hoptry at Kingwood Baptist Church and were members of St. Marys Baptist and currently members of South Parkersburg Baptist Church. At each of these churches, Georgia served in many capacities-Deaconess, Choir, Bible School Director, etc.; but her heart was in the service to the American Baptist Women’s Ministry. She held offices on the local associations and state boards. She made many lasting friends through the ministry. Georgia wishes to thank her family and friends for their love and prayers. A special thank you to Dr. Heather Straight, Dr. Osman, and all the nurses and technicians at UHC for their kindness. May God Bless each one of you.

Funeral service will be 12 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Aurora, WV. Burial will follow in Aurora Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Southside Baptist Church, Parkersburg, WV and from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
