Robert W. “Bob” Eakins

Robert W. “Bob” Eakins, 86, of Vienna, passed away at his residence on Sept. 4, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born Sept. 14, 1937, to the late Elmer L. and Flossie M. Eakins.

He attended Glenville State where he received his Bachelor’s degree, then received his Masters Degree from West Virginia University. He was retired from the Wood County Board of Education after over 30 years of service as a teacher, coach, and principal. He was a 32nd degree mason at the Vienna Masonic Lodge 172 A.F. and A.M. He was a past president of WV secondary schools’ activity commission and past president of the LKC Athletic conference.

He was a devoted husband to his wife, Linda K. Eakins, who will cherish his memory along with his sons, Michael Eakins (Monica), Steven Eakins (Kimberly), his step-daughter, Angela J. Halfhill (Stephen); a brother, Roger Eakins (LuAnn); sisters, Carol Yoho (Barry) and Shirley Davis; and grandchildren, Michael Eakins, Mathew Eakins, Victoria Dye, and Preston Eakins.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, E. Kenneth Eakins and Gary Eakins; and a brother-in-law, Frank Davis.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2024, at Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, Vienna, with Pastor David Carrico officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation with friends and family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
