Ilene E. Allen Tebay
Ilene E. Allen Tebay, 92, of Parkersburg, WV, passed away quietly and peacefully surrounded by family on Sept. 1, 2024.
She was born Dec. 4, 1931, in Calhoun County, WV, a daughter of the late Lovell Allen and Euna Barr Allen. Her parents named her Ilene, but when she was little, her dad nicknamed her “Peach,” a name that followed her to the end.
Ilene graduated from Calhoun County High School in 1950. She was the matriarch of the Tebay family and home, which was a busy hub for family activities. She was the one who made the house a place where everyone felt welcome and loved. Her home was a safe place to relax and feel comfortable. It was full of laughter and love and so many precious memories were made there. Ilene provided a home for foster children for many years, changing the lives of many. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and canning. Despite her wide variety of chores and hobbies, she always found special time serving in her community as a Care Line crisis hotline volunteer, talking with people in times of struggle and loss. Ilene had a deep love for all animals, especially dogs. Ilene’s life was a testament to her unwavering strength, boundless love, and unyielding faith. Her resilience and courage in the face of adversity were nothing short of inspiring. Peach will forever be remembered as a fighter, showing incredible strength and determination until the very end.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include her sons, Dana (Teresa) Tebay, James Tebay; daughter, Angela (Joseph) Bobier; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Tebay; sons, Roger, Stanley; brother, Harold Allen; sister, Irene Hawthaway.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
