George Roscoe Hewitt passed away September 11, 2024 at home under the loving care of his children.

He was born to parents Rufus and Mary E. Hewitt on March 21, 1933.

George was a U.S. Army veteran and was a member of the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his children, Vance Hewitt (Dianna), Lisa Breitmeier (Tom), Aaron Hewitt (Misty), all of Walker, W.Va., and Alex Hewitt (Jeana) of Dillsboro, Ind. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one more on the way. He is also survived by two sisters.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Nulter Hewitt; an infant daughter, Crystal Jill Hewitt; one grandson and two brothers.

Funeral services will be Sunday at 1:00 pm at the Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church at Walker, W.Va. Interment will be in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery with a Celebration of Life immediately following burial at the Progress Ridge Community Building. Visitation will be Saturday from 5-8 p.m. at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg and Sunday from noon until service time at the church.
