D. Dave Phillips

Dwight David Phillips, 71, of Mineral Wells, WV, passed away Sept. 4, 2024, at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

He was born on May 9, 1953, in Parkersburg, WV, a son of the late Abner Jerome Phillips Jr. and Twila “Peggy” Phillips.

Dave had worked for Schott Glass and retired from Wood County Schools where he was a bus driver for several years. He was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying hunting and fishing. Dave enjoyed traveling and was a strong supporter of President Trump. He was a member of the Mineral Wells Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and enjoyed studying the Bible.

Dave is survived by his wife Debra Jean Shaffer Phillips, son Heath David Phillips of Sparks Nevada, sister Sandra Hull (Michael) of Parkersburg, brother Abner Jerome Phillips III of Parkersburg and his little girl, his dog Heidi.

Dave is preceded in death by his parents, brother Kendall Phillips of Edmonton, OK and twin granddaughters.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor Shane Ward officiating.

Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday and for one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
