William Thomas Fisher, 82, departed this life Aug. 17, 2024, at WVU Medicine Camden Clark surrounded by his family.
He was born June 18, 1942, in Parkersburg the only son of the late Ralph Henry and Thelma Virginia Hodgkiss Fisher.
Surviving Bill is his loving wife of 33 1/2 years, Deanna Sheppard Fisher. A special daughter in law, Renee Fisher Jobes; his granddaughters, Hannah Fisher Mason (Alex) and Morgan Fisher. Great grandson, Chance Fisher and great granddaughter, Vivienne Mason. He is also survived by a son, Kevin Fisher and his family of North Carolina. Mother in law, Lois Sheppard. Sister in law, Kimberly Adkins (Perry). Nephews, Wesley Long (Stephany) and children, nephews Kyle and Kory Long. Brother in law, David Sheppard (Darla Taylor) and son Ian Sheppard.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his son, Criss Fisher and grandson, Nicholas Fisher. Also preceding Bill in death was a special cousin, Francis Fisher and his father in law, Jim Sheppard.
Bill was a U.S. Navy veteran and had retired from DuPont after a 24 year career and for several years prior had been a dispatcher, salesman and terminal manager in the trucking industry. He was a member of the Moose, American Legion, Oldie Wheelers and Pioneer Antique Auto Club. He loved riding his side by side and had many wonderful adventures with the Oldie Wheelers. Bill also enjoyed woodworking, helping his wife refinish steamer trunks, making anything he came across better than original and tinkering in his garage. He will be sadly missed by his wife, family, his napping buddy and special fur baby Molly and Callie Cat.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Leavitt Funeral Home in Parkersburg with Pastor Dan Stevens officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and Wednesday from noon until service time.
