Dorothy Keith Staples

Dorothy Keith Staples, 89, of Parkersburg, WV, and previously Charleston, WV, passed away on Monday, April 8, 2024, at WVU-Medicine Camden Clark. She was born in Zela, WV, the daughter of the late Bonnie Pritt Keith and Olen Arnold "Dick" Keith and raised by her maternal grandparents, Vernon R. Pritt and Rosa Adams Pritt. Dottie was preceded in death by her former husband Thomas D Staples II, granddaughter Tiffany Riddle and best friend Anne Drew.

Dottie worked at The Diamond Department Store and Haddad's, but most of her work life was spent as a Pharmacy Technician at CAMC where she made countless friends that she would remember throughout her life. She was a former member of the Xi Alpha Chi chapter of the Beta Sigma Phi social sorority in Charleston, member of the Kanawha Trail Club and was a certified Master Gardner who was always planting, directing or working in her gardens, no matter how large or small. Dottie was a good listener and gave wonderful advice. She was self taught in many avenues in life but especially music and art. She was a survivor and one of the strongest women we have ever known. She loved her family immensely and never stopped being a wonderful mom, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She is survived by four children; Debbie Wahl of Chicago, IL, Vickie Lombardo of Chicago, IL, Kim Blackburn (Ray) of Parkersburg, WV, and Brett Staples (Amy) of Charleston, WV. She was blessed with ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held at her home as an open house on Saturday, April 13, 2024 between 10:00 am and noon. The address is 2019 Washington Avenue, Parkersburg. Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg is assisting the family with arrangements.
