Robert "Bob" L. Anderson, 79 of Parkersburg WV, was reunited with his wife Carol in heaven, on Tuesday, Feb. 20th, 2024.
Bob was born on March 9th, 1944, in Clarksburg WV, to Ernest and Wilma Lucille Calhoun Anderson (Williams).
He grew up and went to school in Clarksburg, Massillon, Ohio, and Harrisville, WV. Graduating from Harrisville High School in 1962. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea and El Paso TX. He often spoke fondly of his times in these places.
In 1966 he started his career at American Cyanamid (Cytec) where he eventually retired as an inspector after 42 years.
In 1971 he was reacquainted with Carol, who became the love of his life and his wife in July 0f 1972. He often joked about how he got a package deal that included two little boys and a dog. Nevertheless, he became the "dad that he didn't have to be". 1991 was the year that He and Carol were blessed with their granddaughter Katie. She quickly became his Lil' Darlin' and she still is. They had a relationship that was truly special. When she was a toddler, he loved to play pranks on her, and the result was usually an eye roll and an exasperated "Graaandpaaa" from Katie. They both spoiled her, as grandparents do, and when Katie's son Skylar was born in 2013, the tradition continued with him.
Bob was a member of the Williamstown Lodge 129 AF&AM.
As a young man, Bob was involved in a car accident that seriously injured his mother. While at her side at the hospital, he vowed to God that if he spared her, that he would serve him for the rest of his days, and he did exactly that. They attended The Community of Christ (RLDS) Harmony Mission, in Ritchie County. Bob joined the priesthood and became a deacon, priest, elder and high priest. He served as pastor Harmony on several occasions over a span of 40+ years. He also held numerous positions with the church, on both state and regional levels, all while holding a full-time job.
He was a kind and gentle man that never met a stranger. Bob was also an animal lover, especially cats, and he had rescued a few at work from some precarious situations. The world was truly a better place with him in it.
Left to cherish his memory and miss him dearly are, his two sons, Jeff Wright of Cutler, Ohio, and Kevin Wright of Deltona, FL, his granddaughter Katie and great-grandson Skylar of Vienna WV, brother Ernie and nephew Aaron of Coos Bay OR.
Preceding Bob in death, along with his parents, were his wife Carol and stepfather Joseph Williams Sr of Ironton, Ohio.
The family would like to express a depth of gratitude to Bob's caregiver Leza, who was constantly by his side after Mom's passing.
A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m., on Tuesday, Feb. 27th, 2023, at Raiguel Funeral Home in Harrisville, WV, with Elder Pat Hoover officiating. A visitation will take place from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service. According to his wishes he will be cremated and laid to rest at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery at Finch, WV.
