Diana Gale Barnes, 75, of Leesburg, Florida, joined her heavenly father, Jan. 10, 2024. Born in Huntington, WV, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Jean Smith. She was a 1966 graduate of Belpre High School where she was selected Miss Belpre. Following graduation, she attended Mt. State College and retired from GE Plastics as an administrator after close to 30 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Rodney Lee Barnes and a brother Bruce Smith.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years Jerry Lee Barnes; her daughter Regina Jones and her husband Lonnie "Garv" Jones; a grandson Wyatt Jones and fiancee Sydni Hill and a sister Beverly Keil and husband John.
Diana loved scrapbooking. She had a deep spiritual faith that she cultivated with an independent bible study. She was a longtime member of Fairlawn Baptist Church. She was a kind and gentle soul and would never greet you without a big smile and a kind and loving gesture. Not only did she love the Lord, she practiced her love daily by sharing kindness and love.
The family will greet friends Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Fairlawn Baptist Church, 215 Fairlawn Drive, Parkersburg, WV, with a Celebration of Life beginning at 2 p.m. Matheny Whited Funeral Home was honored to assist the Barnes family. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fairlawn Baptist for The Debt Retirement Fund.
