Charles Willard Kiser, a faithful servant, took his precious Lord's hand on December 4, 2023, and followed Jesus to his eternal home.
God had a high calling for this servant when he knit him in his mother's womb and was born August 20, 1935, in Sewickley, Pennsylvania to Ivin Charles and Margaret Gavlik Kiser. At the age of five he was hit by a car and when he recovered his family told little Chuck that God must have big plans for him.
Chuck graduated from Coraopolis High School in 1953, where he fell in love with his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Mary McLaughlin. Chuck and Mary were married in 1955 and on February 12, 2020, celebrated 65 years of marriage.
In 1957 he graduated from University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He had great success in his career in the chemical industry in Pittsburgh, then Houston, and finally in 1965 in Belpre, Ohio. He worked for Shell Chemical and was project manager for the construction and start-up of several units at that plant until he retired in 1985.
His higher calling though was to his Lord Jesus Christ which he faithfully served over the years singing in the choir and with the Kiser family, as Sunday School teacher, Youth Pastor, and Interim Pastor for many different churches.
After retiring in 1985 from Shell, he followed God's calling to start Lighthouse Baptist Church in Vincent Ohio. He followed the Lord as a faithful servant and guided the church from a small house in downtown Vincent through 3 building projects and the beautiful church now sitting on State Route 339. He served as senior pastor for many years, then he semi-retired and served as associate pastor for a few years, then continued teaching his Sunday School class until recently when he was no longer able to.
He was a dedicated dad and grandpa who spent many hours having fun with numerous family gatherings, swimming parties, and beach trips. On occasion some of his family and more frequently his friends would enjoy golfing with him, which he loved. He followed the grandkids in any activity they were involved in from fine arts events, church programs and sporting events of all kinds. He had the privilege of baptizing all 7 of his grandchildren.
He is survived by two daughters, Jo (Tom) Gibson of Vincent, OH; and Kimberley (JR) Krupinski of Little Hocking, OH; and a son-in-law, George Massar of Little Hocking, OH. Chuck had seven beloved grandkids: Georgia Massar, Zachary (April) Gibson, Melody (Kevin) Hadsall, Elijah (Vanessa) Gibson, Alaina (Casey) Phillis, Joseph Krupinski III, and Demichelle Krupinski. He had twelve great grandkids he enjoyed: Autumn, Cameron, Lukus, Elisha, Mikel, Noah, Isaiah, Violet, Alison, Madelyn, Noel, and Caleb. He is also survived by his brother, Bob (Marlis) Kiser of St. Simons Island, Georgia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his bride, Mary McLaughlin Kiser, and their oldest daughter, Diane Kiser Massar.
There will be a private family service at Rockland Cemetery, Belpre, Ohio.
The memorial service will be 4:00 PM Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Lighthouse Baptist Church, 8135 St. Rt. 339, Vincent, Ohio, with Pastor Steve Spurgin officiating. Visitation will be for three hours prior to the service.
