Linda L. Cooper, 82, of Parkersburg, departed this life on November 15, 2023, at WVU Medical Hospital surrounded by her family.
She was born in Kingwood, WV on January 23, 1941, the daughter of the late Vonda Martin and raised by her grandparents Oscar and Daisy Martin.
She graduated from Kingwood High School in 1959 and then graduated from Morgantown Beauty School in 1960.
She belonged to several organizations working in several positions with the VFW Post Auxiliary 1212, Fort Neal Kiwanis Club, South Parkersburg Jaycee-ettes, and Cub Scouts. She was a den leader for Webelos Scouts. She had attended the Trinity United Methodist Church. She enjoyed raising her 3 boys, Doug, Gary, and Mike, was a stay-at-home Mother, a professional hair cutter, and had her beauty shop in the house. In her spare time, she enjoyed painting, puzzles, bowling, bingo, and cooking.
Once the boys were in middle school, she worked at the Farmers Market and finally retired with over 15+ years at Nashua Photo.
She is survived by her three sons Doug (Aleta) Cooper of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Gary (Rhonda) Cooper of Washington, WV, Mike (Lora) Cooper of Elizabeth, WV, Brother Millard Lewis, Hardinsburg IN, and Sister Barbara Pierce of Bedford, IN. Linda has 5 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Roy D. Cooper, her mother Vonda Martin, brothers Donnie Lewis, and Lonnie Martin, and sister Carolyn Brummet.
Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 AM at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Evangelist Victor Casenelli officiating. Burial will be in the West Virginia National Cemetery at Grafton, WV, at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be Friday from 9:30 AM – 11 AM.
