Alice “Ali” Rae Harper

Alice "Ali" Rae Harper, 65, of Murphytown, WV, passed away peacefully Friday, Oct. 27, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones, at Camden Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg, WV.

She was born on Oct. 26, 1958, in Charlottesville, VA, a daughter of the late Kenneth William and Adghuel Lee (Nance) Christopher.

Ali graduated from Ohio University with a degree in Special Education. She then went to teach at Wood County Schools as a Special Education teacher for over thirty years. She was a long-time member of the Church of God Worldwide Association. She taught the Red Cross Learn to Swim program for several years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, crocheting, traveling, hosting dinners and events, and was a cake decorator for many weddings. Ali was the number one supporter at her children and grandchildren's sporting events.

She is survived by her loving husband, Craig B. Harper; children, Angie McFarland (Jim) of Davisville, WV and Zack Harper (Chelsea) of Huntsville, TX; grandchildren, Addie and Owen McFarland; sister Nancy Kelley (Ron) of Lawrenceburg Indiana; mother in law, Marty Harper of Cairo, WV; sister in law, Jill McDonald (Gary) of Parkersburg, WV; brother in laws, Jeff Harper (Teresa) of Coolville, OH and Chris Harper (Patty) of Cairo, WV; and several loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by sister in law, Kelly Taylor and father in law, Roy Harper.

A service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023, at McCullough Funeral Home in Pennsboro, WV with Pastor Lyle Welty officiating. Burial will follow at the Terry Cemetery in Cairo, WV. Visitation will take place the night prior, Tuesday, from 4:30-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
