Dr. Danny Edward Chandler

Dr. Danny Edward Chandler, 76, of St. Marys, passed away suddenly Sunday, May 7th, 2023. He was born November 20th, 1946, in Huntington, WV. The elder son of the late Troy and Anna Gae Chandler. He graduated from Spencer High School in 1964 and from WVU Dental School in 1971. He served two years in the US Army at Fort Benning, GA. He settled in St. Marys and opened his dental practice in November 1973, where he served his community for almost 40 years. He also provided dental care at the Colin Anderson Center and later the St. Marys Correctional facility. He was an active member in the community with the Jaycees, Elks, Bass Festival, Development Authority, Chamber of Commerce and several plays for the Habitat for Humanity. He served on the Board of Education, Pleasants County Bank Board, and was chairman of the Democratic Executive committee. He loved his WVU Mountaineers, St. Marys Blue Devils and Boston Red Sox and followed them all faithfully. However, his true passion was golf, and it brought him so much joy especially in his retirement. He was a man of faith and worked daily at living a Christ-like life. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of St. Marys for almost 50 years and served on pulpit committees, the Trustee Board, the Deacon Board and was a Sunday School teacher. Most recently he worked at the Food Pantry, organized the Men’s Breakfast, and was one of the founding members and President of the Pleasants Christian Outreach Center (PCOC). His greatest blessing was his family.

He is survived by the love of his life, Donna Wright, who he married May 26th, 1968. His two daughters, Traci (Ed) Weber of Williamstown, WV and Tara (Chris) Hurst of Reno, OH. Grandchildren, Kaylee (Dusty) Wright, Chandler Weber, Laurel Weber, and Alayna Hurst. Great-Grandson Canaan Wright. Brother George (Beverly) Chandler, Brother-in-law Deane (Reva) Wright and Uncle Dallas Dean (Linda) Egnor. Several cousins, nieces, nephews, and special friend Elijah Goins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Delno Chandler.

Funeral Services will be at 1pm Saturday May 13th at the First Baptist Church of St. Marys. Interment will follow at the Pleasants Memorial Estates. Friends may call from 2pm to 4pm and from 6pm to 8pm Friday, May 12th at Ingram Funeral Home St. Marys and from 12pm to 1pm at the church prior to the service.
