Margaret “Peggy” McAllister

Margaret “Peggy” McAllister

Margaret “Peggy” McAllister, age 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep at WVU Medicine, Camden Clark on Tuesday November 8th. She was born to Margaret and Adolph Kos in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she lived until she was twenty.

Peggy had been a resident for the past two and a half years at Cedar Grove Assisted Living, where she made friends and received loving care from the nurses, aides, and all the staff. We, her family, thank them immensely.

Peggy had a wonderful full life. She was married to her husband Dick, who preceded her in death just six months ago, for 70 years. They had moved around the US and even to Europe following Dick’s career, bringing the number of homes they lived in to 18! Peggy’s last home had been here in Parkersburg since 2004. The people who knew and loved her will remember her as “a little spitfire” – always on the go, always joking and making people laugh. She loved to dance, read and stay current with the news. She was feisty and stubborn and so cute! However, her most fun came from shopping. She loved fashion and was “the queen of a bargain-find.”

Besides her husband, Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Jack and Joe Kos all of Indianapolis.

She is survived by her three children, Debby (John) of Vienna, Mike of Williamstown and Rick (Denise) of Plant City Florida. She is also survived by her sister Mary Lou Tuohy and nieces and nephews all of Indianapolis, Ind., three grandchildren, Sarah and Scott Pitner and Taylor McAllister, as well as two great grandchildren.

Peggy’s wishes were to be cremated and buried beside her husband in The Mound Cemetery in Marietta, Ohio. There will be a private family service for her burial at a time yet to be determined. Condolences will be accepted online at Hadleyfh.com.
