He is survived by three grandchildren, Sarah, Scott and Taylor; a niece Sherrie and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Bob.

Dick was born on Feb. 27, 1931, in Indianapolis, IN, to Robert and Lillian McAllister. He graduated from Indiana University in 1952 with a degree in Chemistry. During his career he held various sales and management positions in the Chemical and Plastics Industry, which took him to many places around the world.

He finished his career as Vice President of Borg Warner Chemicals in Parkersburg, WV and later President of Kemron Environmental Services in Marietta, Ohio. Upon his retirement from the Chemical Industry, he and Peggy started two retail businesses in Marietta: Arts and Letters Book and Gift Store and Marietta Computer.

Dick was very active throughout his life in the Catholic Church and in his final years he and Peggy were members of St. Margaret Mary Church in Parkersburg, WV where he was a Lector and Eucharistic Minister.

Dick was a man of many talents and passions. He was a master chef, painted beautiful pieces of art, played numerous musical instruments and loved to hunt and fish in his younger years. He shared the riches of these interests with all of his family and friends throughout his full life.

About 18 years ago, he became very interested in his family history. In his research, he discovered that he was a fifth generation relative of a Revolutionary War Soldier who is buried in the Mound Cemetery, Marietta, Ohio. This information led him to become very involved with the Marietta Chapter of The Sons of the American Revolution and this was something he was very proud of.

The family is following Dick’s wishes to be cremated. There will be no visitation or funeral. The family will hold graveside services being facilitated by the Marietta Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution at the Mound Cemetery, Marietta, Ohio, on June 20th, 2022, at 11 am.
