Alice Josephine Travis, 88, of Greenwood, WV, departed this life on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born Feb. 16, 1934, in West Union, WV, a daughter of the late Hobert and Lelah (Zahn) Lipscomb.
She retired from the Doddridge County Board of Education where she served as a janitor for many years at the former Smithburg and Middle Island Schools and the current Doddridge County Middle School. She also worked alongside her husband at Travis Greenhouse. Jo also served on the Doddridge County EMS as well as volunteered for the Doddridge County Senior Citizens.
She is survived by her children, Mike Travis (Sharon) of West Union, WV; Ronnie Travis (Melissa) of Greenwood, WV; Roger Travis (Tammy) of West Union, WV; David Travis of Greenwood, WV; Candi Rollins (Marvin) of West Union, WV; Barbara Dennison (Jim) of Sevierville, TN, and Terri Williamson (Jerry) of Greenwood, WV; her special daughter and caregiver, Janet Lowe of Greenwood, WV; her sisters, Gladnalene Bell, Thelma Swisher, and Betty Collins; grandchildren, Brandon, Jason, Sierra, Brittany, Brian, Jennifer, Maralee, Sasha, Kamry, Keith, Kimberlee, Kendra, Dava, Tristan, along with 16 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Duane Travis; brother, Bernard Lipscomb and great granddaughter, Serenity Michelle Thomas.
