Margaret Elizabeth Butler passed away peacefully at home in Panama City Beach on Oct. 31, 2021, after a courageous battle with ALS. The youngest child of Frank and Mary Butler, Margaret is survived by sisters Judy Taylor (Gary), Kathy Houlihan (John), and Sara Mumey (Jackson) and her brother, F. Joseph Butler (Lynn). Her sister Terri Hindman (Tom) predeceased her in 1999. Emily Hindman, her loving niece, cared for her during her final illness.
Margaret led an adventurous and fulfilling life. Born in Parkersburg, WV, on Feb. 19, 1962, she was a graduate of Parkersburg. High School. Margaret also lived with her family in Brussels, Belgium; and, independently, in Wichita, KS; Richardson, TX; Santa Rosa Beach, FL; and Celebration, FL. A graduate of Texas Women’s University, Margaret had a varied career as an artist, designer, and manager of retail and on-line businesses. She participated in 13 mission trips with East-West Ministries to Russia, Spain, and The Czech Republic. But Scenic Highway 30A in the panhandle of Florida was her happiest place.
Margaret’s eleven nieces and nephews and thirteen great-nieces and -nephews were very important to her and she to them. Her countless friends were also there, in person and in spirit, to support her in her final days.
A private burial ceremony will be held to honor Margaret and a celebration of her life will be held on Dec. 10, 2021. Messages of condolence for the family can be sent to Kbhoulihan@gmail.com.
