Michael Barry Crowley
Barry Crowley of Prairieville, La., passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease, on July 26, 2020.
He was born in Nutley, N.J., on Aug. 15, 1941, the son of Michael John and Bridgit Rodgers Crowley. He graduated from Parkersburg Catholic High School in 1959. After high school, he enlisted in the Navy, and served four years. He moved to California and graduated from the University of California Northridge. He retired from the state of Louisiana as an addiction counselor.
Barry is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years, Dolores Chenore Crowley. His daughters: Amy Crowley Tompkins (Brian) of Prairieville, La., and Hanna Crowley Vanderstoel (Maarten) of Ft. Worth, Texas. His beloved grandchildren include: Brennan and Brooke Crowley, Lyla and Evan Vanderstoel. Left to cherish his memory are his sisters: Nancy James (Buddy) of Vienna and Sharon Rose Crowley of Santa Cruz, Calif. His brother Roger Crowley (Nancy) of Vienna. His sister-in-law Dr. Gabriele Hegerl Crowley of Edinburgh, Scotland. His nieces and nephews include: Michael and John Crowley (godsons) of Edinburgh, Scotland, Michael Shackelford (Christin) of Virginia, Pamela James Perkins of Arnold, Md., Heather Crowley of Vienna and Missy Crowley Simons of Pittsburgh, Pa., Bridget Vanderschaaf (Reed), Maggie Pearlman (Scott) of Los Angeles, Calif. In addition to his parents, Barry was preceded in death by his brothers, Patrick James Crowley and Dr. Thomas John Crowley; a sister, Margaret Crowley, and his niece, Lorrie James Bannister. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
