Linda D. Layfield
Linda D. Layfield, 68, of Harrisville, WV, departed this life on Sunday, March 15, 2020.
She was born October 21, 1951, in Elyria, OH, the oldest daughter of the late Freda Newbrough Schoolcraft. She graduated from Harrisville High School in 1969 and was a member of the Harrisville Baptist Church. Linda married Gary Layfield on January 31, 1970 and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Linda and Gary have three children, Christina Knight (Brian) of Harrisville, Kimberly Laughlin (Dan) of Dublin, OH, and Bryan Layfield (Amanda) of Las Vegas, NV. She has three grandchildren that hung the moon in her eyes, Jordan, Zach and Jared. Linda devotedly cared for her family and friends through delicious cooking and baking from scratch. Linda was a cheerleader for her three children. She was not only their mother, but their mentor and friend. Once her children were raised she worked different jobs in Ritchie County, recently retiring from the Ritchie County Sheriff’s Department, (a job she dearly loved), with 20 years of service.
She loved spending time with her family around the kitchen table taking and laughing. Linda had two unconditional friends, Abby that we still enjoy and Sadie that she enjoyed for several years. Linda also had a love for baseball, from T-Ball to the Major Leagues.
The family is deeply grateful for the love, prayers and support from friends and family through many visits and cards and a special thank you to the Harrisville Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, three children, their spouses, grandchildren and five sisters, Sandy, Robin, Debbie, Cathy and Tina and stepfather, Bob Schoolcraft of Parkersburg.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 19, 2020 from 4-8. Private funeral services will be held at Raiguel Funeral Home, Harrisville with Pastor Robert Perine officiating. Burial will follow in the Harrisville IOOF Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.McCulloughRaiguel.com.
