Rachel R. Hamrick

Rachel Roberta Hamrick, formerly of Little Hocking, Ohio passed away January 25, 2020 under the Hospice Care of Marietta Memorial Hospital in Marietta, Ohio.

Rachel was born on September 29, 1935 in Elizabeth, WV. She was the daughter of J. Okey Cox and Opal Miller Cox. She attended Wirt County High School in Elizabeth, WV and was a member of Porterfield Baptist Church in Little Hocking, Ohio. She lived her life as a homemaker, enjoyed canning from her large garden and baking cookies for her children.

Rachel is survived by her children, Dewayne (Terry) Hamrick of Vincent, OH, Sandra (Don) Colvin of Belpre, OH, Christopher (Allison) Hamrick of Parkersburg, WV, Randell (Amanda) Hamrick of Belpre, OH, daughter-in-law Katherine Hamrick of Little Hocking, OH, fifteen grandchildren and twenty seven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Robert Cox of Youngstown, OH, Raymond (Yvonne) Cox of Washington, WV, her sisters, Ruth (David) Mann of Collinsville, TX, Ramona Watson of Belpre, OH, Rhoda Wade of St. Petersburg, FL, her sisters-in-law, Betty Wells of Parkersburg, WV, Lucille “Sadie” Cox of Elizabeth, WV and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard W. Hamrick Sr. whom she married in March of 1953, her oldest son, Howard Hamrick Jr., grandson, Andrew Hamrick, brother, Ronald Cox, half brothers and sisters, Ralph Cox, Royden Cox, Ruby Hendricks, Rosie Mae Elkins and three infant siblings.

Funeral services will be held at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre on Wednesday at 1:00 PM with Pastor Mark Eaton officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery, Spence Rd. in Belpre, Ohio.
