Robert Wayne “Bobby” Stephens

Robert Wayne “Bobby” Stephens passed away Thursday, October 24, 2019, at his home in Lakehills, Texas, with his wife Kay and brother Carl at his side. He was born the sixth child of Denzel Oren Stephens and Helen Dovey Griffith on October 21, 1956, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, and was raised at Red Hill.

He is survived by his wife Katherine Yvette O’Dell Stephens, who he married March 29, 1980. Surviving also are brother Carl Stephens; sisters, Edith Cordell, Shirley Trippett and Cheryl Simmons (Randy) of West Virginia and Janet Kautz (Robert) of Florida. He has 2 children, Tara Bentancourt (Noel), and Kristopher Carter, and grand children Eric, Jacob, Will, Braylin, Alexyn – Oren, Lyla-Nicol, Joshua and Emma-Leigh. There are surviving, twelve nieces and nephews, 16 great nieces and nephews and 6 great, great nieces and nephews. He leaves behind a host of other extended family and dear, cherished friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother George, sister-in-law Tonya, niece Leonda Rose and others, who greeted him in heaven.

Bob was charming and charismatic, making every person he knew feel special. He had special relationships with his siblings and each niece and nephew. He was sweet and kind, leaving good feelings with those he interacted with. He loved spending time with his friends, family, at the American Legion, and making music. He was self-employed, and an accomplished tile setter.

Special thank you to all the doctors and nurses who cared for him on his journey, with extra thanks to he loving hospice nurse and angel on earth, Tina.

He will be missed more than words can express. Our world will be a little dimmer without the light from those sparking blue eyes.

There will be no services as his body was donated to scientific research, although memorials will be held at a later time. Goodbye precious one until we meet again.
