Velma "Lenore" Kress, went to be with the Lord, and her family members that went before her, on Monday evening, August 20, 2018 at Camden Clark Hospital. Lenore passed away surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on October 21,1936 in Spencer WV to the late Hurst and Tressie Young Simmons.
In addition to being the neighborhood Mom for many years, Lenore was the friend that everyone would always want to be, loving mother to her children, and loving and caring Grandmother and Great Grandmother. She was the ultimate mentor to her family, friends, and neighbors and always taught kindness, compassion, respect, and love for nature and her fellow man. She always demanded that her legacy be fulfilled by her loving children.
She enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow and was very proud of her family. Lenore was truly a gifted story teller and family historian. Her stories of the old times always put a smile on the faces of her audience, whether it would be family, friends, or anyone that came to call on her. She truly warmed the hearts of her loving children and Grandchildren and will be sadly missed.
She enjoyed reading and learning more than anyone that a person would ever know. Her love for gardening produced the most perfect roses and flowers for her lawn and the biggest and best vegetables in Parkersburg.
She is survived by her children, Aldridge "Thompson" Ferrell III of Huntington, Connie Favata (Lou) of Myrtle Beach SC, Karen Fauss (Randy) of Belmont WV, Coy Ferrell II (Kellie) of Clinton Township MI, and Linda Kress (Tammy) of Baltimore MD. She is also survived by her sister June Carpenter of Nitro WV
She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Bethany Ferrell, Anna Ferrell, Samantha "Sammie" Welsh (Laura), Delmar "Michael" McCoy (Kayla), Matthew McCoy, David McCoy, Randall Fauss (Lacy), Kyle Fauss, and Katelyn Higgins (Tucker) and 5 great grandchildren, Hazel Grace McCoy, Iris Mae McCoy, Finn Vincent McCoy, Iris LeeAnn Hart-Hanson, and Summer Rain Walton
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Aldridge "A.T." Thompson Ferrell II and James Russell Kress, and her grandchild Aldridge Thompson Ferrell IV. She was also proceeded in death by 1 sister Violet Wineman.
Cremation services have been entrusted to Mid-Ohio Valley Cremation Society.
The family plans to have a memorial service for Lenore at a time to be decided later.
