Barbara Kay Ewing

Barbara Kay Ewing, age 80, of Pickerington, Ohio, passed away on January 30, 2017, at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. Barbara was born August 5, 1936, to the late Charles and Opal (Yoho) Bassett in Moundsville, West Virginia. After living throughout the U.S. and overseas, Barbara and Buck chose Central Ohio as their permanent home following his retirement from the Air Force. Barbara was an active and vibrant homemaker, enjoying golf, bowling, gardening and sewing with her friends and family. She was also a licensed private pilot and member of the Ninety-Nines, the International Organization of Women Pilots founded by Amelia Earhart, and the Columbus Area Military Wives Club. Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Lt. Col. (USAF Ret.) Wilbur "Buck" Ewing; children, Michael Ewing and Jane Holbrook; daughter-in- law, Kathryn Ewing; grandchildren, Zachary Ewing, Benjamin and Samuel Holbrook, Fletcher, Emma and Rory Ewing; brother, Capt. (USN Ret.) Charles (Dale) Bassett; nephews, Charles and Jeffrey Bassett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, David "Pete" Ewing. A memorial service will be held on SATURDAY, February 04, 2017, 2:00 pm, at the PFEIFER FUNERAL HOME, Reynoldsburg, Ohio, with Pastor Jeff Greenway officiating.
