Methel (Sue) Lillian Bowen, 89 of Pickerington, Ohio, formerly of Huntington, died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016, in Pickering House, Lancaster, Ohio.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2016, at Chapman’s Mortuary Huntington with the Rev. Elaine J. Sturtz officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation is from 1-2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2016, at Chapman’s Mortuary.
Methel was born Sept. 14, 1926, in Cabell County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Carl and Ruth Safford Cyrus.
She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church of Tuppers Plains, Ohio.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Homer Monroe Bowen; a son, David Bowen; two granddaughters, Kelly Renea Bowen and Becky Petticrew; and four sisters, Margaret Peyton, Jackie Dodridge, Reita McConaghy and Eleanor Gillenwater.
Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie and Sue Bowen of Huntington, W.Va., Bob and Diane Bowen of Melbourne, Fla., Steve and Sandy Bowen of Coolville, Ohio, and Phil and Cathy Bowen of Pickerington, Ohio; one daughter, Donna Cowley of Huntington; two sisters, Betty McCallister of Milton, W.Va., and Ernestine Barnett of Alabama; one brother, Ernest Cyrus of Groveport, Ohio; 14 grandchildren, Ron Bowen, Robert Bowen Jr., Beverly Bowen, Cindy Bonavito, Richard Petticrew, Kelly Adkins, Cristy Robinson, Craig Bowen, Angie Montale, Matt Bowen, Brian Bowen, Heidi Payne, Brett Bowen and Shane Bowen; and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the Doctors and staff at both Wesley Ridge & Pickering House for all their loving care for their mother.
