SSG Jason D. Naegel, 29, passed away suddenly while serving his country at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington State, to be with his Lord.
Jason was born January 5, 1987 and spent his formative years in Belpre, Ohio surrounded by loving family.
Jason joined the Army in 2006 and rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant and to the position of platoon Sergeant. He was a mentor to those under him which he took pride. He led by example, never adhering to the age old cliche of “Rank has its privileges or RHIP”. If it was bad enough for his troops, it was bad enough for him. Duty, Honor, Country was more than a slogan, it was his life.
Jason served in Kuwait and Korea in addition to Ft. Hood and Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
He is survived by his wife Ana; stepdaughter, Marie; and his beloved pets, Peanut and Jaeger; proud parents, Joyce and Terry Daggett; maternal grandfather, Charles Tunstall; his proud brother, Ryan (Natasha); numerous aunts, uncles, cousins; and two nieces Madelyn and Peyton; and stepgrandparents, Terry and Cathy Daggett.
He is preceded in death by his father, Dean; maternal grandmother, Magdeline Tunstall; paternal grandparents, Chuck and Joan Naegal; and cousins, Jeff and Jimmy Caldwell.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 9, 2016 at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre with Pastor Ken Fullerton officiating. Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens, Parkersburg.
